    Update :)
    Hello, Everyone!

Again, I apologize for not posting in such a long time!  Life has been cruising along at a fast pace and I have been enjoying every moment of it.  Here are a few memorable moments:
1.) Patrick and I got engaged!!  He is a wonderful man and I am sooo happy to be engaged to him.  I feel that I am truly with the man of my dreams.  We have begun thinking about wedding details and are thrilled to begin this entire process.
2.) The packing process of my classroom is moving along quite well.  I will begin packing up my apartment after school is over on June 19th (my last work day is June 21st).
3.) I talked with the people from the Obama campaign yesterday and I heard a lot of good news!  When I begin working on July 2nd, I will receive my own @barackobama.com e-mail address, campaign cell phone, and computer!!  I cannot wait to begin my new job and be a part of this monumental campaign!

That's about it.  I hope that everyone is enjoying life, just like I am! :)

P.S. Would the person that keeps belittling me and my decisions in life please stop.  You do not need to be wasting your time posting comments that are never published.  You only continue to feel that you are making me upset, which you are not.  Instead, I can sense a great deal of jealousy in your comments and I hope that you can find a sense of peace in your life, where you do not have to put people down in order to feel better for yourself.

    Update--after months of not updating!

Wow!  I haven't updated this in a LOOOOONG time.  Here's the little news that has happened since I last updated:
    1. I'm going to be a Field Organizer for the Barack Obama Presidential Campaign starting the beginning of July.  I'll miss the kids and not teaching, but I won't miss the parents and the bureaucracy.
    2. I'm moving to New Hampshire in a condo with Patrick the last weekend in June. :)  I cannot wait!!!!
    3. 8 more weeks of Kindergarten with our BUGZ performance on Thursday.  Tomorrow all of the Kindergartners (150 of them) are coming to school for the WHOLE day.  Wish me luck!
    4. Trivia weekend was a TON of fun!  I went back to Point for the festivities, and surprised my extended family by showing up for my cousin's first communion with my Mom.  I also got to drive my Mom's new Prius!!!  It is fantastic and beautiful.  Freshly Squeezed ended up in 15th place with 6800 points.

I'm still exhausted from Trivia, so I'm going to crash.  I hope to update this more as the last weeks of Kindergarten wind down.  Thank you for continuing to read my news and thanks to [info]empressearwig for posting this great visual DNA! :)  Now if I could just figure out how to post it....

    Have a great night!

    Update :)
Hello, everyone that still reads this!

The month of January has been flying by!  It has turned cold and very, very snowy in VA and I am kind of hoping for a snow day tomorrow--only kind of hoping because I have report card checks to do with my students before the end of the grading period, on Thursday.

Life is going very well for me.  I am enjoying teaching still and am looking forward to this summer.  My students are behaving better, and at times still slip into their "preschool" behavior.  Issues with bullying are becoming more apparent in my morning class, with students who know that they are more advanced than others.  Any helpful suggestions as how to deal with those students would be wonderful!  I have recently announced to my classes that in May we will be going to the National Zoo for our Spring field trip!  It should be a TON of fun! :)

Life with Patrick is also wonderful, as always. :)  I am so lucky to have him as my boyfriend, future fiance, and soul mate.  He is incredible and a constant source of support and love.  I feel so fantastic when I am with him and when I think about him.  25 more days until I get to see him and 160 more days until I move to New Hampshire to live with him!!  We're continuing to look for apartments to live in in NH and I am currently in a job search in the political arena.  Any suggestions of what I should get such a great guy for Valentine's Day?  I've never had a significant other for Valentine's Day and I'm such a girl when it comes to this holiday.

Patrick's parents sold their house, that has been on the market for quite a while!!  They got the exact price and closing date that they wanted!  I'm so happy for them. :)

My mom is doing very well, as is my brother.  Life in Wisconsin is relatively quiet for them.  My brother just redid the kitchen floor at my mom's house, and she told me that it looks very beautiful and just like it was always there.  Jeremy put a wood floor over the top of the linoleum floor.

I just found out that my best female friend has bought a rent-to-own house in Gilbert, AZ.  She says that it's a starter house for her and her husband, as it has 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths.  It's 1300 square feet and has a relatively small backyard.  She is super excited about it and I look forward to seeing it someday!  Too bad though, because Patrick and I were hoping that Andrea and Adam would be moving out east sooner rather than later.

I played a Wii at Jen and Josh's house with Patrick, at the end of December.  It was sooo much fun!!  If they ever come down in price, I may consider purchasing one or asking for one as a present.

I guess that's about all for now.  If I think of anything else later, I'll be sure to update more frequently.

    Yay for accents!
What American accent do you have?
    Your Result: The Inland North

You may think you speak "Standard English straight out of the dictionary" but when you step away from the Great Lakes you get asked annoying questions like "Are you from Wisconsin?" or "Are you from Chicago?" Chances are you call carbonated drinks "pop."

    The South
    North Central

    Go Pink for October
    Hello, everyone!

    How are you doing?

Life here is totally, insanely busy.  I have been busy at school--lesson plans, projects, prepping for the next day, keeping communication open with parents, assessing students to see where they are reading level wise, finding out about coaching Debate for Freedom High School, meeting with team leaders, planning for Student Council elections, etc.  The life of a teacher never stops.

My students are adorable.  My afternoon class is fabulous.  They work well together, they transition well from subject to subject, and they remain focused throughout the day.   My morning class is much more needy and stubborn, with a few students who have a difficult time making good choices, but they are also very motivated to learn and do their best.  I'm happy to end the day with my afternoon class, but I enjoy being with both groups of students.

They definitely say a lot of really funny things.  When asked what is our current President's first name (they already knew that he was President Bush), one of my students said "George Washington".  After I told her that George Washington was the first President of the US, she quickly changed her answer to "George Clooney". HAHAHA  Later I found out from my mom that George Clooney was speaking with the press about he would not be running for President.  I guess my student had the inside track!  During that same discussion at school, one of my male students raised his hand and told me "The President doesn't know what he's doing."  Here's to his Democratic parents!! :)  The other day, one of my female students showed me the inside of her coat and told me how it's ok if the inside is on the outside because it's "disposable".  hehehehe.. I talked with her and said that she meant "reversible" and that "disposable" means that it can be thrown away.

Enough about school and my students.  Life with Patrick is going swimmingly as well.  He's a fantastic person and I'm lucky to have him.  I attended a Bridal Show for fun with a co-worker (who needed some companionship since her fiance had to work) and won an all-expenses paid trip (except for the plane ticket) to a resort in the Bahamas, Mexico, or the Dominican Republic.  In order to claim the trip, Patrick had to fly here and go to a signing with me.  He came September 15th-17th and we had a fantastic time!  I'm going to visit him next weekend (I have Columbus Day off and I'm taking a personal day on Friday--it was a black-out day for flying, so I had to fly out Thursday night) and I'm also going to meet his immediate family at a Family Dinner.  I'm slightly nervous about it, but Patrick is doing very well at calming my nerves.   I'm not sure what else we'll do, but I know I'll just be happy spending time with him. :) (I sound sooo cheesy, but it's true!)

As you've probably noticed, my background colors have changed on this site!  I'm going pink for October and you should too.  Visit the site pinkforoctober.org to learn more about this great cause and the fight against breast cancer.

Now it's time to make dinner.  Have a great night!

    I survived the first week!
    Hello, Everyone!

I'm so sorry for not updating this but life has been quite crazy--or as I like to say "crrrrraaaaaaazy". :)  I have officially survived my first full week as a full-time Kindergarten teacher and my students are fantastic!!  I have 49 students currently--25 in the morning session and 24 in the afternoon session.  One of my students didn't show up in the afternoon session, so I'm certain to get a new one next week, making my student total 50.  My students are so cute and eager to learn.  I have approximately 8 English as a Second Language (ESL) students in the afternoon, and while a few are totally "out there" and not really understanding what is going on, I am sure that they'll start catching up quickly.  Next week, I'm starting pulling the children individually to see what they know on a one-on-one basis, so that will be interesting.

I love my Kindergarten staff this year too!  The ladies are wonderful and a joy to work with.  Ellen and I are getting along so well and she is taking control more and more--which is a good thing.  I want her to be able to step in when I'm not there, or be in control of our Center rotation so I can work with small groups of students more easily.  Yesterday, Ellen complimented me about my control and how well I'm working with our students.  She is amazed at how well everything is going and is certain that this year will flow so much more smoothly than last year, just because of the great set-up we are forming.  Since it was the first week of school for these students, things were still a slight bit insane, but they will get more and more easy as the year rolls on.  Only 39 more weeks until summer vacation!!

Speaking of summer vacation, if things are going as absolutely amazingly as they currently are with Patrick, I will be moving to New Hampshire next July.  He is definitely the man of my dreams.  I'm so fortunate to have found him and cannot wait to live with him and spend my life with him.  I know this sounds cheesy, but it's true!  Waiting for a perfect guy was all I needed to do, and I'm happy that he was the one that I waited for.

Other than that, things are going very well in my life.  Constantly working on school stuff, writing lesson plans, and socializing with friends is again becoming the norm.  Happy hour was fun last night with staff, as was hanging out with Jen and Josh.  I love that they surprised me by coming to visit, hanging out, and then going to IHOP for dessert! :)  Yay for spontaneity with friends!

Now it's time to make some food, watch a movie, and do some school work.  Tonight I'm going dancing with the girls for Jamie's birthday!  Should be a lot of fun!!  Have a great day

Wow.. I'm really bad at updating this thing...
    Hello, Everyone!

I'm so sorry that I am so horribly bad at updating this thing as of late.  It has almost been a month since I last updated and so much has happened!!

I'll give you a quick run-down and then further explain:
~I was in Wisconsin having my wisdom teeth removed and hanging out with family and friends until July 19th.  Also, the last weekend that I was in the Midwest, I went to Chicago with my mom, Angela Gearin, and her mom to spend time in the city, see the Second City comedy club (watched the show "War!" which was HILARIOUS--they sang a song parody of "Black Bird" by the Beatles by changing it to "Black Beans" with lyrics such as "Black beans sitting on a bed of rice... you can have them plain or even spiced... very nice... every time you'll hear this song you'll think of beans and rice."  They also had skits where an actress sang "Hey Big Spender!" to George W. Bush acting as the Department of Education, a skit about a divorced family, and a variety of other satirical skits and songs.  I would definitely go back and see it again!), see "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" musical (I have a great spelling bee joke to tell, if anyone is interested), eat great food, shop, and enjoy time together.  I flew out of Chicago O'Hare on the 16th and took a cab back to my apartment.

~I spent time hanging out with friends and getting ready for my next adventure from the 16th-19th and flew out again on July 20th.  This time, my adventures in traveling lead me to New Hampshire where I spent 6 days with Patrick!  It was an incredible trip.  Some of the highlights were: spending time with Patrick lounging, watching movies ("RENT", "Garden State", and "An Inconvenient Truth"), seeing historical sights such as Strawbery Banke and Portsmouth in New Hampshire, walking along the beach in York, ME, having Patrick cook dinner for me and making Death By Chocolate for him, seeing his parent's house and driving up to Vermont to see his childhood home, going to a local planetarium and museum, driving up to the top of Mount Washington (the highest peak in the Northeastern US) and eating lunch in a cloud, seeing where Patrick works and meeting some of his co-workers, and spending a day in Boston, MA.  We visited 4 states all together and had a fantastic time!  He told me that he loves me and things are going so well with our relationship.  I honestly could not be happier!! :)  It was sad leaving him on the 25th, but I knew that I would get to see him soon.

~I returned to VA, was picked up by a friend, and then attended a School Improvement Plan meeting the next day.  I worked with my co-workers to figure out how to create a school improvement plan and learned how to present our plan to our other co-workers when we return for training on August 23rd.

Other than all of that, I have attended the Reading First Academy (where I learned how to more successfully teach reading to my Kindergarten students and I also had a lot of fun working with a small group of Kindergarten teachers--I hope that we keep in touch and are able to exchange ideas throughout the school year) and have been getting ready for Patrick's arrival.  He's flying in on Thursday this week and we will celebrate our 2 month anniversary on Friday!!  How crazy is that?!  :)  After he's here for the weekend, on Sunday, we'll drive to Nashville to attend the National Conference for Senate Leadership (NCSL)--I'll sneak into events on Education Policy if possible.  We'll be there for the week and will return to VA on Friday, August 18th.  He'll be here for the weekend and will then return to NH on August 21st.  School training begins on August 23rd and then life goes into a crazy spin as school stuff begins!!  I'm going to be setting up my classroom this week, since I won't be around next week and I hope to get everything taken care of early so I'm not running around doing last minute things like I was last year.

Ok.. now I'm off to shower and go to the mall with Courtney!  Virginia is having a sales tax holiday this weekend--all clothes and shoes under $100 are not subject to sales tax--so we're going to browse and maybe find some great deals.

    Have a great Sunday!! :)

Happy One Month to Patrick and I!! :)  This is the longest I've been in a relationship thus far and I am so incredibly happy.  He is a fantastic guy and I am lucky to have met him at just the right moment.  I hope that we're together for many more months to come.  :)

Yes, I know that this entry is incredibly cheesy and corny, but I just had to share this milestone in my life.  I hope that you are just as happy as I am!

    Small/Quick Update
All four of the wisdom teeth are out. Surgery went well with no complications. I feel like a chipmunk with all of this gauze in my mouth... silly feeling. Eating ice cream has been great, but I wasn't ready for the little chunks that applesauce has--it hurt--bummer. I will eat very smooth mashed potatoes tonight, even though I wish I could eat normal foods. Oh well! That will come back soon. :)

    Since the last update...
    Hello, everyone!

I definitely owe an update to everyone who still reads this. :) I left you last talking about how a certain boy and I had hit it off at my best friend's wedding and that we had hoped to talk a lot more from that point on. Well, things certainly have changed since then!

We (Patrick and I) have talked on the phone every night (only missing one) since then and things are going extremely well with our relationship. He is now my boyfriend and we have been together for a little over 2 weeks. He is soo easy to talk to and we have discussed everything you can possibly discuss with someone. We agree on almost everything (which is kind of eery) and see our relationship being something, instead of just a fling or a one time thing. Things are really moving fast, and yet, it's not uncomfortable or anything. He could be the one. (I can't believe that I just typed that... I hope I'm not jinxing it.) He happens to be best friends with Adam (my best friend's husband) and is a great kisser, so those are also great perks. It's kind of scary how everyone keeps telling me to invite them to the wedding, when I don't nearly see Patrick and I at that point yet.

The only thing that truly sucks is that he lives in New Hampshire, while I live in Virginia. Thank goodness that flights aren't too pricey at this point, so I will be going to visit him after I get back from WI--I'm going to WI from June 29th to July 16th, and he will come visit me in August (he's NEVER been to DC before! He's a political junkie and has NEVER been there.. can you believe it?!).

I'm enjoying my summer off and if it would ever stop raining, I could go rollerblading. I love the rain though! It's especially nice to have the time to just lie in bed and listen to the rain.. I didn't think I would enjoy having this time just to veg, but it is indeed nice.

Things I am looking forward to: Going to WI for 2 DMB concerts (and camping out overnight in between with friends). Spending time with friends in WI. Seeing my dad, grandpa, grandma, uncles, aunts, and cousins in WI on July 3rd (also going golfing with the guys!!). Visiting Patrick in New Hampshire and having him visit me here in VA.

Things I am not looking forward to: Having my wisdom teeth removed on July 5th (hence one of the reasons that I'm going to WI for a prolonged amount of time).

I guess that's all for now. Digest and respond as you wish. :)

    Hooray for Weddings!
    Hello, Everyone!

I have just recently returned from one of the most happy occasions I will ever experience in my life--my best friend just got married!! Andrea looked gorgeous and she is so happy with her husband, Adam. I feel sooo thankful to have both of them in my life and I know that they will be together forever. Andrea truly is the best friend a girl could ever ask for.

In light of happy relationship status... I may be starting something that could turn into a happy relationship status situation. One of the groomsmen and I really hit it off this weekend and we'll be talking a lot more often from this point on. He lives in New Hampshire, so it's not too far away, and I have the summer off, so I might just go and visit him. He has never been to DC before either, so he wants to come visit here. We're both super busy working though (he works as a Legislative Aide in the New Hampshire State Senate), so after this week, things might go a little more smoothly. We'll see! :)

That's about it for now. Check out my facebook page to see pictures from the wedding (click on the link that says there are 22 pictures of me).

    News
Hmm.. where to start.. how about with the bad and then end with the good? Sounds like a good idea to me.

    Bad:
1.) The West Wing is over forever... I cried throughout the episode and even preemptively cried during some moments because I did not want it to end.
2.) Feeling emotionally numb definitely sucks. Boys suck too. My emotional numbness and boys are positively correlated. I thought I was in a very good, naturally moving relationship where he was chivalrous--brought me flowers, surprised me at 7AM at my apartment because he wanted to see me that day, opened my car door for me, etc, but that ended and knocked the wind out of me along the way. He realized that he couldn't get over a 3 year relationship in 3 days (with his psycho bitch ex), which I realized would happen, but still I'm hurt and angry. I had kept my guard up and tried not to fall too fast and too hard. I played things cool and was myself 100% of the time. It still hurts and I felt like I got kicked in the chest when he broke it to me. Time will help me heal and if he heals and wants to try it again, while I'm still single, then we'll see where it goes. And to think that on this day exactly one week ago, we were sharing our first kiss...

    Good:
1.) This weekend I'm going to Wisconsin for a wedding, with Mike. It should be a ton of fun and I'm looking forward to it!
2.) I just finished figuring out my school supply order for next year--when I'm teaching Kindergarten in the morning and in the afternoon!!
3.) Other happy school news: I am the team leader for Kindergarten for next year! Also, I'm the Lead Adviser for our Student Council (and we're already planning a trip to the White House with the kids!!). :) Next year should be very exciting, indeed!
4.) I saw my first live groundhog today! It was behind our school and my friend/co-worker pointed it out.
5.) At recess today, instead of watching my kids run up and down the big hill on our playground, I decided to join them in their running! It was a TON of fun, and I'm sure that the other teachers thought I was crazy. Oh well!

That's about it for now. I'm tired and need more sleep. Maybe when I'm feeling more rested, I will write more about everything, but maybe I won't and will just try to move on the best I can... only time will tell.
